New York City Hotel suggestions

The pool at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge

Hotel suggestions

We are contacted quite frequently regarding hotel suggestions in the city and I wish I had a straight answer. There is currently no real vegan hotel here (someone please open one!) and hotel prices in general are quite insane, especially considering the value for money.

While I did stay at a few hotels when I came to visit before I moved here, this was more than 12 years ago and some of them aren´t even open any longer.

Here are a few which are vegan-friendly and are located in areas with lots of vegan options.

Moxy East Village

Moxy East Village is located in the heart of the East Village – the breeding ground for society-shifting movements in rock n’roll, avant-garde art, Beatnik poetry, LGBTQ+ activism, and American counterculture as we know it. Aside from comfortable rooms, it offers a very cool restaurant, Cathedrale, as well as a nice rooftop bar. Moxy Lower East Side is another nice option.

Yotel and Pod hotels

Yotel and Pod (multiple locations) offer small, but smart rooms towards the West Side of Manhattan and close to the Theater district/Times Square.

1 Hotels

1 Hotels, with locations in a few cities in the US, are a sustainable, high end chain started by the founder of W Hotels. In NYC, we have one right by Central Park and one at Brooklyn Bridge (great rooftop terrace too - you can go there even if you are not staying at the hotel)

50 Bowery Hotel

50 Bowery is located right beside the Manhattan bridge, so basically in Chinatown. You will have lots of vegan eatieries close by and great access to transportation. From there, you can even walk to Brooklyn - the walk across the Manhattan bridge is much less crowded than Brooklyn bridge and, as an added bonus, you actually see Brooklyn bridge!

Citizen M Hotel

Citizen M hotel is located on the Lower East Side, surrounded by great restaurants, shops and fun things to do.

William Vale

The William Vale hotel is located in Williamsburg, with a great view of Manhattan (not all rooms), surrounded by great restaurants, shops and fun things to do.

Citizen M Hotel

Citizen M hotel is located on the Lower East Side, surrounded by great restaurants, shops and fun things to do.

No matter where you end up staying, keep in mind that hardly anyone comes to NYC to spend much time in a hotel anyways.

We are more than happy to assist you with finding a great place for you, just drop us a line (we are also a travel agency) eat@vegantoursny.com !
